Embark on a journey to positive mental health for your personal development or to help someone close to you.
Journey to Positive Mental Health can help save lives. Learn to use tools to start a dialogue and lead someone to get the help they need.
WHAT IS JOURNEY TO POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH?
Journey to Positive Mental Health is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses such as anxiety attacks, substance use disorders, etc. The workshop gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a crisis.
WHY LEARN ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH?
When we see someone having a heart attack, most of us would know that we’d need to start CPR, or call 9-9-5. But do we know how to respond if we saw someone having an anxiety attack or if we were concerned that a friend or co-worker might be showing signs of substance use problems or alcoholism?
HOW CAN JOURNEY TO POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH HELP SOMEONE?
Journey to Positive Mental Health train you to identify and recognise mental ill health. Having knowledge can help yourself and also someone close to you. Learn how to take the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations related to mental health. By embarking on a journey to positive mental health, you can improve understanding and provide support to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or related mental disorder.
This lifeskill and practical workshop is brought to you by RHA Academy in collaboration with City of Glasgow College (UK) – the top vocational college in the UK.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
This course will provide learners with the training and awareness to recognise a range of mental health conditions and to be able to understand and indicate appropriate support and therapy that is available.
In their lifetime, 1 in 7 Singaporean face a mood, anxiety or alcohol-use disorder. It is also estimated 18% of youth are suffering from depression, and seniors have also been shown to be at an increased risk of depression and suicide (Singapore Mental Health Study).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is suitable for anyone who is interested to help someone around them. By learning more about mental health conditions and how to recognise them, better support can be provided. The knowledge attained through Journey to Positive Mental Health can be applied in a work-place or community to help identify individuals with mental health concerns and encourage them to seek professional support.
